Johnny Depp’s Great Escape - Little Hall’s Pond Cay
Vanity Fair’s July issue is something of a living tribute to Johnny Depp’s life and style. Vanity Fair contributing editor Douglas Brinkley takes a vacation with Johnny Depp on his private Caribbean island.
He speaks of this 45-acre tropical paradise called Little Hall’s Pond Cay, after a journey on Depp’s yact - named Vajoliroja. And apparently, the reel life pirate of the caribbean has spilled over into the real life private caribbean island - which shows pirate themed touches.
And in another indication of just how far Depp’s creative juices have invaded his personal life, he’s named one of the beaches Gonzo (after Hunter S. Thompson) and another one Brando. Another place on the island is called Heath’s Place (in memory of Heath Ledger), where you can snorkel with neon-colored fish.
Depp bought Little Hall’s Pond Cay in 2004. The island is in the Bahamas, in the Exuma Cays Land and Sea Park, for around $3.5 million. According to this dated ‘for sale’ listing, the island is one mile long and 1,300 feet wide, with 40-ft elevation, deep-water access, interior lagoon and six private beaches. Accommodations include a thatched roof one-bedroom cottage with living room, kitchen, bathroom, standby generator and reverse osmosis water system, and a Tiki hut on the beach.
The July issue of Vanity Fair (on stands June 3) has a lot more about Depp, his island and it’s eccentricities.
