JDV Relaunching Erwin Hotel in Venice Beach, CA
Joie de Vivre is ramping up it’s presence in Southern California with the re-launch of the Marina Pacific Hotel as the Hotel Erwin Venice Beach.
The 119-room property is currently undergoing a two-phase renovation that is expected to be completed in mid-July.
The hotel overlooks Muscle Beach, set just 200 feet from the beach and a few blocks from the chic shopping and dining enclave of Abbott Kinney and historic Venice canals.
JDV is a San Francisco based boutique hotel operator, and each of it’s 40 odd hotels spread across California has a specific theme around which everything is focused and modeled. The Erwin will definitely end up as one of the more artsy and laid-back Venice hotels, as it tries to capture the spirit and essence of the beach community.
In a press statement, Matt Harvey, Joie de Vivre’s Creative Director, said about the Erwin that “This hotel has that Cinderella story line. It’s a humble family hotel being injected with new life and spirit to become a landmark destination for visitors and the local community.”
A range of low and high art by artists such as Larry Bell is found throughout the hotel. For example, graffiti-inspired art shows up unexpectedly on guestroom doors, while art decals decorate shower curtains.
Even the guestroom corridors are lined with arty photographs of graffiti, famous rock stars and eclectic Venice locals.
Many rooms have balconies with Pacific Ocean or boardwalk views. The 38 one-bedroom suites have a queen-sized sofa bed, wet bar, fireplace and bathrooms with large, two-person walk-in showers.
The hotel’s publicist said that the rooftop lounge named HIGH, which offers 360-degree-views from Catalina Island to the Hollywood sign, is scheduled to be opened to the public on June 25. HASH - the hotel’s restaurant which will start serving ‘breakfast on the beach’ from June 29 onwards, and will be open for dinner by July 3.
Hotel Erwin is Joie de Vivre’s fourth boutique property in Southern California, joining the Hotel Maya in Long Beach, the Shorebreak Hotel in Huntington Beach and the Hotel Angeleno.

there are many great oceanfront hotels in Los Angeles and this one is good, but very pricey. there are some better deals out there.
Venzia Italy is such a good city to visit. I enjoyed reading your writing , good writing. The spirit of the people shines through in this wonderful city.
