Atlantis, The Palm Releases Sammy the Whale Shark
Some of you may remember the fierce battle waged by environmentalists trying to free Sammy the Whale Shark from the evil clutches of Atlantis.
Atlantis is the £950 million luxury hotel on Dubai’s man-made Palm Jumeirah island. The whale shark was ‘rescued’ by the hotel in 2008.
After tons of bad publicity, a facebook Free Sammy campaign and songs played by DJs on Dubai’s radio stations in support of Sammy, the hotel finally agreed to release Sammy from its dinky little aquarium.
After over a year of preparations and conditioning for Sammy so she can survive in the wild, Sammy has now been returned to the waters of the Arabian Gulf from where she was rescued.
The Atlantis offers 1539 rooms, chilled swimming pools, four restaurants with celeb chefs and all the things that one enjoys in the Atlantis in the Bahamas - including Dolphin Bay and Aquaventure.
