Mother’s Day Weekend Hotel Specials
There’s some great Mother’s Day hotel and resort weekend packages and specials being announced, and here’s a choice collection of the best of the deals.
HotelChatter.com, in addition to informing us that this is the 100th anniversary of Mother’s Day (the holiday was first celebrated in Grafton, West Virginia on May 10, 1908), also has four specials including the Marco Island Marriott which is offering Moms a choice of a free round of golf or a 50-minute spa treatment plus a $100 dining credit to any of the resort’s restaurants. Tough choice for Moms - Golf or Spa?
The other three deals listed are the Mill Resort in Aruba (free cookies, and spa, dinner and jewelry discounts), the La Posada Resort Santa Fe, and the Luxe Hotel Rodeo Drive. The last two don’t seem to have any special offer ‘only for Moms’, but what the heck…The special offered by the Luxe on Rodeo Drive includes a whole bunch of great freebies which any Mom would consider to be a ‘top-notch’ gift.
I desperately want to convert this post into a review of the Luxe hotel, but there’s a lot more Mother’s Day deals to be listed, and I don’t think I’m going to write another Mother’s Day post, so you’ll just have to do your own poking around for Beverly Hills hotels which offer specials like ‘Get Ready for the Paparazzi’.
Susan Derby, LA Times, blogs about the luxury Pan Pacific Seattle offering a “Mother’s Day Pampered Package,” which includes a room upgrade, confections, one-hour facials for two and free valet parking (normally $28 per night). The package starts at $369 per night (pre-tax); this price level gets you a deluxe 340-to-410-square-foot room with queen bed or two twin beds. Use promo code “MUMDAD.” It’s valid for stays May 1 through June 26, 2008.
Press release from Wyndham Hotels and Resorts says they’re helping families turn Mother’s Day into a weekend getaway with a package featuring a full-buffet breakfast for two and a 50 percent discount on either a second night stay or a second room. The Wyndham Weekender one- or two-night package is offered Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights through Dec. 31 at participating Wyndham hotels from California to the Caribbean. It may be booked by calling (800) WYNDHAM — (800) 996-3426 — or online at www.wyndham.com.
Michelle Esteban, KomoTV.com, lets us in on the four great secrets to a great, economical Hawaii vacation. Hawaii secret number one: April and mid May are some of the slowest times on Oahu. Hotels told me Mother’s Day is the slowest holiday of the year, so take advantage of that lull between spring break and summer. BTW, its a great article. Do read.
Christie Smythe, Arizona Star, has a few more deals which landed in her inbox, including Manhattan’s Buckingham hotel and the Arizona Grand Resort in Phoenix which offers a Mother/Daughter Grand Spa Escape” — a package including a massage, facial, manicure and pedicure and light lunch.
In Dallas, TX, you have grand dame packages fit for a queen, according to Helen Anders, Statesman.com. Let’s start with the Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek (2821 Turtle Creek Blvd., www.mansiononturtlecreek.com). The Mansion’s Mother’s Day package includes overnight accommodations, in-room tea service, a massage for Mom, breakfast for two, flowers in the room for Mom and valet parking. The cost is $495 for a deluxe room and $520 for a premier room. To book, call (214) 559-2100. She goes on to list the package deals from the Stoneleigh Hotel, the Fairmont Dallas and the Adolphus.
Lastly, you might want to consider spending Mother’s day at Disneyland, which it seems, is a very popular spot to be in on Mother’s Day. Adrienne Krock, editor of MousePlanet.com, has a totally neat and fully planned trip for spending Mother’s Day at Disneyland. This is totally a must-read guide.

I do wish that I could have taken my Mom to some kind of Spa hotel some time in her life. But no, that was not the fact in this case. *sigh*
I do hope that people that has the opportunity will grab it, while there is still time….
Well, captain, I’m sure she’s out there somewhere, happy that you at least wanted to give her a treat. Sometimes good intentions are a gift by themselves.
