World War III & Why Clinton Lost

The British and the Germans have fought two world wars, so it would be logical to assume that they just might like to have one more go at it. This time, though, they’re duking it out on the travel front. The Independent, UK, reports that Germany’s largest newspaper, Bild, has come out with a guide to help Germans going abroad avoid British tourists. This was in response to a British tourist who successfully sued a travel company for putting him in the middle of a resort full of Germans.

Bild’s contribution to the annual battle of the beach loungers was sparked when a British holidaymaker, David Barnish, was awarded £750 in compensation after suing his travel company over a vacation at a resort filled with Germans. Bild printed six spots to avoid: the Bay of Palma, in Majorca; San Antonio, in Ibiza; and Playa de las Americas, in Tenerife. Also on the Bild blacklist are Ayia Napa, in Cyprus; Faliraki, on the Greek island of Rhodes and Malia in Crete. - Germans told how to avoid British tourists, Allen Hall, The Independent, June 3 2008

This could just inspire someone to write a guide about all the things to do in Los Angeles, which can be done without ever having to lay your eyes on a prima donna Hollywood star.

Speaking of prima donnas, there’s been a lot of talk about why Hillary Clinton lost to rockstar and teen sensation Barack Obama. One of the reasons, according to expert opinion, is their poor choice of hotels, and the excessive amount that her campaign spent on posh hotels and fine dining. It seems Clinton’s staff still haven’t learned their lesson, and even in defeat, they’re pulling out all the stops and spending the money like there’s no tomorrow - Which there isn’t.

Another staffer, a cute blond in her mid-20s, had taken a seat in the press filing center next to a table full of empty Domino’s pizza boxes. (The Clintons had shelled out for more than 150 of them.) She was changing out of her heels and into some more comfortable flats in preparation for a Clinton-funded afterparty in the penthouse of the exclusive Gramercy Park Hotel just a few blocks away. It was an odd choice of venue, given that cocktails at the Hotel cost upwards of $20, but we guess a single night’s bar tab can’t further damage the budget of a campaign that is already $20 million in the red. “It’s a sad night, for sure,” she sighed. “We put in a lot of hard work on this campaign, so it’s tough to see it end like this.” She paused to take a sip of her Chardonnay. “I guess it’s time to look for a new job.” - Hillary Clinton Just Can’t Say Goodbye, Neel Shah, Radar Online, June 4 2008

That just about explains it all. Why Clinton lost, I mean. For starters, not a single Obama supporter would consider it to be a ‘job’ - Its a movement, a duty. Secondly, spending the peoples’ money like a drunken sailor on shore leave is exactly why Americans are throwing out the bums from Washington. Staying at a good hotel while on the road is understandable, but $25,000 at the Bellagio Hotel & Casino, Las Vegas? If Clinton’s doing that with campaign contributions, its pretty easy to guess what she’ll do with tax-payer money.
