Meet Kaci Beeler, SouthWest Blog-o-Spondent
SouthWest Airlines just announced that Kaci Beeler, an undergrad student from Austin, Texas, is now their new SouthWest Blog-o-Spondent. Here’s the background on the contest where the three finalists were flown to the 2008 BlogWorld Expo in Las Vegas and asked to produce a video each to determine the winner.
Kaci says on her blog that “I’m already thinking of the cities I want to go to in the coming months…Chicago, San Francisco…all places they said I could visit.”
She was asked to produce a video that showed her “Living the Southwest Way” while out and about around Vegas. And this is the video she made that won her the contest.
Tell you the truth, I’d totally forgotten about this contest. Some friends of mine are at BlogWorld, enjoying Las Vegas vacations with a bit of blogging pow-wow thrown in. If I’d remembered earlier, I could have asked one of them to live-blog it and get some first-hand reactions. Anyway, Kaci adds on her blog that she’ll be going home to Austin first and then on to Hawaii. Correction here - Hotels and flights will be taken care of by SouthWest for the planned trips she’ll be taking to the places that Kaci mentioned in her blog (Chicago, San Francisco, etc. ), and this does not include the Hawaii trip, as previously mentioned.

Kaci’s trip to Hawaii is totally unrelated to the Southwest contest. Her improv troupe (of which I’m a part) is going to an improv contest. I wish they were paying for the flight there.
Thanks for clearing that up. You wouldn’t happen to be her cameraman, would you?
Yep! I was the cameraman and co-editor on the videos.
They ended up using my camera on that shoot (a Canon HV20 on “indefinite loan” to their improv troupe) - and that camera has a LOT of miles on it. I don’t mean hours, I mean miles - I took it with me to New Zealand. It’ll probably end up going with PGraph to Hawaii, too.
What can I say - I don’t have kids, so I live vicariously through my video cameras.
Kaci and Roy did an awesome job, and they deserved the win!
That they did, Brian. And as for the not having kids part - only those without kids can afford to live vicariously, so have fun while you still can.
