Inaugural Ball Gowns Pile Up At DressRegistry
I’m no fashionista and I probably wouldn’t be the best choice to seek out help for what to wear for swanky functions like the upcoming inaugural balls in Washington DC, but I can tell you what not to wear for aforementioned inaugural balls. That’s because many of the women who are attending one or more of these balls have registered their inaugural ball gowns at DressRegistry (www.dressregistry.com/).
So the least you can do is make sure that if you’re going to one or more of the 26 odd balls listed, then you’re not wearing a dress which is already registered in the lists at DressRegistry. And, of course, if you browse through the registered gowns, it’ll give you a pretty fair idea of what kind of competition you’re going to have.
Here’s a couple of samples of what’s going to be on display at the 10 official balls being attended by the Obamas and the Bidens.
Commander-in-Chief Ball - Has 11 registered dresses, including the one you see in the picture to the left. That’s a black cocktail dress from Ralph Lauren. DressRegistry’s description for this dress goes something like this - The little black dress in silk taffeta is irrepressibly curvy and flirty, designed in a retro-inspired, full-skirt silhouette with our signature Blue Label streamlined shape and a sexy strapless sweetheart neckline.
Constitution ball - 7 registered dresses for this one. The one on the right is a silver ankle length plunging neckline dress by Sue Wong.
Whether you’re going to be DC attending these soirees or not, you can have a lot of fun browsing all these gowns. You can find them all listed here.
And what about incoming First Lady Michelle Obama’s inauguration ball gown? It is, as of date, one of the most eagerly awaited attractions in Washington DC, with the new First Lady being cast in the mold of Jackie Kennedy.
Michelle Obama’s designer todate has been Maria Pinto, who has a boutique at 133 N. Jefferson St. in Chicago. But the inaugural ball gown is a different matter altogether. Every famous designer worth his or her salt has submitted ball gown designs for consideration, and everyone in the fashion world is buzzing about which is going to be ‘The Gown’.
Whoever scores the gown is going to be the toast of the entire fashion world. Every woman is going to want to wear what Michelle Obama wears. Its going to be on the cover of every magazine across the world. Its going to be one of the biggest viral youtube videos ever. Its going to be seen live by billions of people worldwide on television. You just can’t buy publicity like that.
