19 Bald Eagles Die in Kodiak, Alaska
KODIAK, Alaska (AP) — At least 19 bald eagles died Friday after gorging themselves on a truck full of fish waste outside a processing plant. Fifty or more eagles swarmed into the truck, whose retractable fabric cover was open, after the truck was moved outside the plant, said Brandon Saito, a biologist with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service who coordinated the recovery operation. The birds became too soiled to fly or clean themselves, and with temperatures in the mid-teens, began to succumb to the cold. Some birds became so weak they sank into the fish slime and were crushed.
Dear God. Who do we blame for this?

OMG!!! That’s horrible! Where do you come up with these things? The poor birds, they were probably just middle-of-the-winter hungry and then they see all this food… couldn’t help themselves.
Makes my heart ache!
Bald Eagles drowning in fish slime….someone should be blamed! From what water source did these toxic fish come from? Gross!
These kind of news always make me very, very sad. So unnecessary… ;-(
Unnecessary it is, and the company which owned the truck, Ocean Beauty Seafoods, isn’t talking about why the truck was left open. And the number of dead eagles is now up to 22…And it’s very likely that the company will get away with a fine or something…
